Overview
The SFPO is a research-focused public forum that provides an opportunity for the Somali people to discuss issues relating to marine resources. In particular, we will discuss the most pressing issues facing the fisheries resources and coastal communities that depend on them, including overfishing caused by illegal commercial trawlers over the past three decades. The main goal of our organization is to enhance transparency in the fisheries sector.
We currently use free and open source platforms to monitor fishing vessels within Somalia's EEZ and planning to advance our monitoring capacity.
